Community Meeting with Blue Pearl Animal Hospital, Monday, October 3, 7 p.m.

News September 29, 2022

St. Mary’s Parish has relied on rental income by leasing out our former high school building, which closed in the early 1980s, in order to cover operating expenses and certain capital improvements.  Over the years we have had a number of tenants, Facing History and Ourselves being the most recent.  Like many organizations have done since the pandemic, Facing History decided it no longer needed such a large office space with so many employees now working from home.  They did not renew their lease with St. Mary’s Parish, and so we began a rigorous marketing effort to find the right tenant for our building.

We are happy to say that we’ve found that tenant in Blue Pearl Animal Hospital.  Blue Pearl is a nationally known and respected animal health care provider, and we are thrilled to be partnering with them to bring their services to our community.  They are very excited about moving into our high school building and have been busy working together with the town of Brookline and with our neighbors to answer questions about their impact on our community and provide assurance that they will not only be good neighbors but an improvement for the neighborhood and community.  We are excited to welcome them and see this as a great benefit to our parish and community.

Please join us on Monday, October 3, at 7 p.m. in the lower church with any questions you may have to meet with representatives from Blue Pearl and to learn more about the hospital they are planning to operate here.  Approval of the new use of the property is needed from the Brookline Zoning Board of Appeals and support from neighbors and parishioners will assist in obtaining the needed approvals.  Our  parish financially relies on our rental income in order to maintain our historic properties of St. Mary’s in Brookline and St. Lawrence in Chestnut Hill.  We need you, our parishioners, to show your support for this wonderful initiative!  We look forward to seeing you there!
